A pipe burst on the second floor of my house while I was on vacation leaving my house a complete mess. First response was on site within an hour after we called, Cole and Katie helped me file an insurance claim and had my worries at ease.

Pipe break in ceiling causes extensive damage in Mahopac, NY

Project Manager Vinnie was able to get to this customer’s home within 45 minutes of their call to the First Response office. Vinnie assessed the damage, took moisture readings and measured the rooms affected by the water damage to get a rough estimate for the customer. Vinnie helped the customer file an insurance claim because the customer had never had to do that before. He called in the emergency crew to go over the protocol he wrote up and to begin the mitigation process. Setting up containment was the first priority to prevent cross contamination to undamaged areas of the home. Mold can typically start growing within 24-48 hours after a water loss which is why prompt removal of wet sheetrock, insulation, flooring and even furniture is imperative. The crew worked long hours but were able to remove all the damaged areas and the customer was tremendously relieved to have that part of the clean-up process complete!!

The plumber was able to find and fix the broken pipe but recommended to the homeowner that they call First Response to dispose of the wet building material before mold started to grow. After Rob the Project Manager scoped out the work, the crew went in to start the clean up. The first item on their list of things to do was to empty the kitchen cabinets so that the cabinets could be removed.

First Response Project Manager, Rob, arrived at the home to inspect the sewage damage. He went through the affected areas with the customer and advised him that technicians would be arriving shortly to clean-up. Once onsite they immediately started removing the raw sewage and cleaning the area. The concrete floor and affected walls are then steam cleaned and sanitized. After that, 6 air movers, 1 air scrubber, and 1 dehumidifier were installed to quickly dry the unfinished basement.

The First Response project manager, Rob arrived on site to document the damages and communicate the situation to the property manager within an hour after we received the call. The office then dispatched two water restoration technicians to start cleaning up the water damage. We extracted and steam cleaned the affected areas, then placed six air movers, a dehumidifier and an air scrubber. This was the perfect amount of equipment to dry this condo properly.
