What to Do after a Fire

- Step 1 - make sure everyone is out of the house safely.
- Step 2 - contact first response to board up any broken windows or tarp the roof.
- Step 3 - A representative from first response will assist in calling your insurance company and getting you setup in a temporary living situation.
- Step 4 - First Response will begin any emergency water removal and setting up temporary power as needed.
- Step 5 - You and a specialist from the First Response contents division will meet onsite to begin inventorying all your salvageable and non-salvageable contents from the home. If there are any textiles that are salvageable a member from our team will pick those up to be cleaned and deodorized.
- Step 6 - First Response will meet with your adjuster to get an agreed upon scope.
- Step 7 - Once an agreed upon scope is determined First Response will then either coordinate Asbestos testing depending on the age of the home or begin the Mitigation process. The mitigation portion will consist of any necessary removal of smoke/water damaged materials, cleaning and deodorizing of the structure.
- Step 8 - Once Mitigation is complete a walk through will take place with you and the assigned project manager from First Response. You will be walking through the structure to make sure everything meets your expectations and that you are satisfied!
- Step 9 - First Response will setup a meeting with the adjuster to go over the repairs needed in your home. Once the adjuster agrees with our scope we can begin restoring your home and life back to normal!
