Completion date: January 28, 2023

Location: Old Greenwich, CT

Why did the customer contact us?

The postcard picture of beauty most coastal towns offer can become dangerous and threatening very quickly by an impending Nor’easter storm. The customers sump pump was no match for the torrential rain, storm surge and wind created by the Nor’easter. Nor’easters don’t happen often but are dreaded by many homeowners especially if they live on the coast because severe flooding can and will cause damage to their home and possessions, the question is-how much damage??

Solutions provided:

Many New York and Connecticut coastal residents called First Response to get help with rising flood waters when this Nor’easter hit. Once the flood waters receded, this customer was able to safely go into their basement to take pictures of the devastation left behind. The flood waters were 3-4 feet high in their basement which was visible by the water lines and mud left on the walls. The Project Manager on duty met with the customer and drew to scale the damaged rooms and the protocol for remediation for each room. Most of the customers personal items were ruined from the rising flood waters. Pictures and an inventory of the items which were beyond salvaging were forwarded to the insurance company for compensation. Sheetrock was removed floor to ceiling along with the insulation and flooring. First Response got there just in time-the mold hadn’t started growing yet!!
