Job completed for Sump Pump Float Switch Malfunction in Yorktown Heights, NY

Completion date: February 5, 2023

Location: Yorktown Heights, NY

Why did the customer contact us?

A faulty float switch caused the sump pump to malfunction and allowed 4 inches of water to gather in their basement. All the rooms in the downstairs apartment were affected by the flood and needed immediate attention.

Solutions provided:

The First Response on-call Emergency Crew received the late night request imploring the crew for an immediate response to help with the basement flood. The crew’s priority was getting the water extracted from the basement apartment because the longer water sits, the more structural damage will occur. The customer filed a claim with their insurance company while the crew extracted the water and started documenting the damage caused by the water. A remediation protocol was written up which included the removal of tile and wood flooring, 2 foot flood cuts to the sheetrock, insulation removal and documenting unsalvageable items which included the refrigerator. Dehumidifiers and Air Scrubbing equipment was set up to dry the interior of the walls. The crew completed the protocol items within 3 days so that the customer could begin the process of restoration.
