Job completed for Soft Blockage Causes Sewage Surge in Beacon, NY

Completion date: February 6, 2023

Location: Beacon, NY

Why did the customer contact us?

The soft blockage made of grease, hair, toilet paper and food scraps built up overtime and eventually clogged up the wastewater line. The customer found out about the blocked line after they ran their washing machine but the water couldn’t drain properly. The excess water caused a back flow of sewage and sewage water to overflow into their basement.

Solutions provided:

Project Manager Rob surveyed and documented the affected areas of the basement so the crew would know the scope of the work for the cleanup. The initial remediation work consisted of extracting the sewage and sewage water so that the crew could then neutralize the area of any pathogens. The 12X12 tiles had to be ripped up because sewage water seeped in between and under them which would cause substantial mold growth if left in place. The cement floor was then cleaned and sanitized with an antimicrobial solution to kill off any remaining bacteria. Multiple fans and dehumidifiers were set up to speed the drying process. The customer was very happy and relieved that First Response was able to help mitigate the sewage mess in such short notice.
