Job completed for Burst Water Pipe Leads to Multi-level Home Damage in Kent Cliffs, NY

Completion date: January 23, 2023

Location: Kent Cliffs, NY

Why did the customer contact us?

A frozen water pipe can freeze and eventually the pressure can burst a hole in the pipe causing water to gush and spray throughout the walls of a structure. This customer called because she could hear water spraying in her wall and could see the water seeping from her bathroom floor through the sheetrock walls to her kitchen. By the time she located her main shut off valve for the water, the water made its way to the basement where she had many items in storage.

Solutions provided:

Upon receiving the call, the Project Manager was called in to measure and document the damage caused by the water. He then explained in great detail to the customer the process of water mitigation and the protocol he drew up for their particular water loss. The customer called their insurance company to ensure coverage, then the crews proceeded with the water mitigation protocol to prevent further damage to the home. The crews cleaned and removed the contents from all rooms affected by the water. Salvageable items were inventoried and placed into a POD and items ruined by the water were inventoried and put into the dumpster. The sink and vanity were removed from the bathroom and flood cuts were made in the sheetrock in the bathroom, kitchen and basement. The crew pulled up a piece of the wood floor to show the customer that the water had seeped underneath which would cause the wood flooring to buckle if not removed entirely. Finally, drying equipment was set up to remove moisture from the air and to help dry the inner structures of the walls. As devastating a situation as this was for the customer; they felt First Response acted quickly and professionally to help save their home from further structural damage.
