Job completed for Pipe Break in Ceiling Causes Extensive Damage in Mahopac, NY

Completion date: February 4, 2023

Location: Mahopac, NY

Why did the customer contact us?

When a stain appeared on their living room ceiling, the customer knew something was wrong. Their plumber diagnosed a pipe break which caused water to seep throughout their ceilings and inside their walls. After fixing the break, the plumber suggested the customer get in touch with First Response to tear out the damaged materials so that mold doesn’t take over.

Solutions provided:

Project Manager Vinnie was able to get to this customer’s home within 45 minutes of their call to the First Response office. Vinnie assessed the damage, took moisture readings and measured the rooms affected by the water damage to get a rough estimate for the customer. Vinnie helped the customer file an insurance claim because the customer had never had to do that before. He called in the emergency crew to go over the protocol he wrote up and to begin the mitigation process. Setting up containment was the first priority to prevent cross contamination to undamaged areas of the home. Mold can typically start growing within 24-48 hours after a water loss which is why prompt removal of wet sheetrock, insulation, flooring and even furniture is imperative. The crew worked long hours but were able to remove all the damaged areas and the customer was tremendously relieved to have that part of the clean-up process complete!!
